OUR STAY AT SONEVA JANI

Not so long ago, you could have seen my review about our stay at the amazing Soneva Fushi. During our time in the Maldives we also got the oppurtunity to experience their second resort in the country, a 2016 opened Soneva Jani. In this post I would like to tell you something about about our stay here and also do a little close-up of the resort, in case you're thinking about booking your next trip there!

Nedávno jste si tu mohli přečíst mojí menší recenzi našeho pobytu v hotelu Soneva Fushi - dneska bych Vám ráda představila jejich druhý rezort na Maledivách, který byl otevřený v roce 2016 a který se nejmenuje jinak než  Soneva Jani. Pokud přemýšlíte do něj jet, určitě pokračujte ve čtení!

ABOUT SONEVA JANI

Soneva Jani is located a little further north from Male. The flying distance from Soneva Fushi is approximately 15 to 20 minutes, the speed boat time would be around 60 till 90 minutes, depending on the sea. The hotel can be found within the Noonu Atoll and with 5.6 kilometers of private lagoon, it's one of the biggest island you can find on this atoll. In Soneva Jani there is more happening on the water: the hotel has the biggest overwater building in the Maldives, the biggest overwater cinema in the world and also two sections of villas: Chapter 1, the original villas from 2016 (total of 24 Water Retreats) and the Chapter 2, a newly opened section with another 27 villas. In Soneva Jani, you will find only 4 Beach Villas, which is the main difference to Soneva Fushi. 

Soneva Jani se nachází severně od Male. Ze Sonevy Fushi se sem dostanete během 15-20 minutového letu nebo také lodí, při čemž cesta většinou trvá 60 až 90 minut. Z Male se do Sonevy Jani letá hydroplánem a cesta trvá cca. 45 minut. Ostrov se nachází na atolu Noonu a se svou 5.6 kilometru dlouhou privátní lagunou je největším ostrovem tohoto atolu. Většina aktivit a budov se nachází na vodě: a to největší vodní budova na celých Maledivách, největší vodní kino na světě a také 24 vodních vil v "Chapter One" (z roku 2016) a také 27 nově otevřených vodních vil z Chapter Two. Na samotném ostrově najdete pouze 4 plážové vily, a to s 1 až 4 ložnicemi, což je také největším rozdílem od Sonevy Fushi. 

THE VILLAS

As mentioned, most of the villas in Soneva Jani are Water Villas. We had the oppurtunity to stay in their brand new Chapter Two, in the amazing Two Bedroom Water Retreat with a Water Slide. Let's start with the size of the villa - our "room" had amazing 772 square meters. The Water Villa was an absolute dream come true - from a bedroom with a "removable" roof in order to watch the stars over a private water slide to an amazing, spacious villa in general with every detail well thought through. The Water Villas in the Chapter Two also come with an optional "Unlimited" service which is bookable together with your villa - this means that you can enjoy complimentary wines and alcoholic drinks anytime in any restaurants, complimentary spa treatments from the menu and other perks and advantages!

Jak jsem již zmiňovala, v Sonevě Jani najdete převážně vodní vily. My jsme měli tu příležitost se ubytovat jedné z nově otevřených vil v "Chapter Two", a to konrétně ve Two Bedroom Water Reatreat With a Slide, jejíž rozloha byla neuvěřitelných 772 metrů čtverečních. Každá vila je unikátní a na ostrově nanajdete 2 vily, které by byly identické. Design byl promyšlený do posledního detailu: v ložnici se například dala otevřít střecha, takže jste mohli spát pod otevřeným nebem, součástí vily je privántí klouzačka, velký bazén a další vychytávky. Pokud se obytujete v Chapeter Two, můžete si svůj pobyt obohatit službou "Unlimited" - která Vám zajistí nejrůznější zážitky, a to zcela zdarma: například se jedná alkoholické drinky v restauracích, využití vinného sklípku a nebo využití procedur ve spa. 

THE RESTAURANTS

One of my favourite restaurants on the island, or over the water to be more specific, was the Overseas by Matthias Dahlgren. This is an outside part of the Gathering building and the menu is created by the Swedish chef and based on the pescatarian, vegetarian and plant-based diet. This place is open for both dinner and lunch. I can highly recommend their sashimi and poke bowl, which were my favourite items on the menu! In the Gathering you can also find the So Guilty and So Cool rooms which are complimentary to all guest - in these rooms you can enjoy some home-made ice creams and sorbets, chocolate cookies, macarons and other sweets. The breakfast can be served in your villa, in the Gathering or in the So Primitive. We did one in-room villa breakfast and one in the So Primitive and even though I am usually a person who enjoys in-room dining more, in here I probably enjoyed it in the restaurant a little more. Just like in the Soneva Fushi in the breakfast area you will find different rooms with different items. I was highly surprised about the choice of items - from gluten-free, plant-based over vegan and vegetarian to pescatarian and "normal" food options. Their gluten-free banana bread was really amazing, just like the coconut yoghurt I wish I could every day at home. 

Jedna z mých nejobíbenějších restaurací na ostrově, nebo spíš "na vodě", byla Overseas by Matthias Dahlgen. Nachází se  v budově Gathering a menu je připravené švédským šéfkuchařem Matthiasem Dahlgenen. Na menu najdete spoustu bezlepkových, pesketariánských a také "plant-based" pokrmů. Já rozhodně doporučuji vyzkoušet jejich poké bowl a také sashimi, které jsem si v restauraci oblíbila. V této budeově také najdete So Guilty a So Cool což jsou 2 místnosti, které mohou všichni hosti využívat úplně zadarmo. V So Guilty najdete nejrůznjěší sladkosti, včetně domácí čokolády, makronek a sušenek a v So Cool pak výběr domácích sorbetů a zmrzlin. Snídani si můžete objednat přímo do vaší vily, zajít do Gathering a nebo so So Primitive. My jsme si první den snídani objednali do vily a druhý den jsme vyzkoušeli právě So Primitive, který se nachází v blízkosti Chapter Two. Ikdyž většinou preferuji snídaně na pokoji, musím říct, že tady jsem si snídani víc vychutnala v restauraci: výběr měli opravdu obrovský - od bezlepkových a bezlaktózových pokrmů přes veganské a vegetianské až po "plant-based" a samozřejmě také "normální". 

OVERALL RATING

As you can guess, our stay at the Soneva Jani was absolutely amazing. We truly enjoyed our time on the island and to be honest, this was one of our best experiences not just in the Maldives, but in the entire world. We are so happy we got the chance to experience this and would come back any time. For us this would be 20/10!

Jak jste asi z článku pochopili, náš pobyt v Sonevě Jani byl naprosto skvělý. Byl to nejenom jeden z nejlepších zážitků na Maledivách, ale i jeden z nejlepších pobytů na celém světě. Já bych pobyt ohodnozila jako 20/10 a do hotelu bych se kdykoliv moc ráda vrátila!
