OUR STAY AT THE COCO PALM DHUNI KOLHU

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all well! Today I would like to show you some pictures and tell you a little bit more about our stay at the Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, which is one of the two properties of Coco Hotels, is a Maledivian hotel group. 

Krásné ráno všem! Dneska mám pro Vás přichystaný post z našeho druhého týdne na Maledivách, který jsme strávili v hotelu Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, který je jedním ze dvou hotelů, které tato maledivská skupina vlastní.

THE HOTEL

Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu can be reached via seaplane flight which takes about 30 minutes in the north direction from Male. The property can be found in the southern waters of the Baa Atoll and the island itself is quite big. The hotel feels very local and also the island is very natural. On the island you will find a total of 98 villas which are both on the island and on the water. There are 2 restaurants and 2 bars in the property, a dedicated spa with a gym area, water sports center and what I personally thought was special - the Turtle Rescue Center. This NGO project called "Olivia Ridley Project" from the UK is taking care of injured turtles all over the Maldives. It is usually turtle who have been caught in fishing nets or got hurt by a boat - many of the turtles have an amputated fin from this or the fin had to be amputated in the clinic. The team is teaching the turtles how to swim and dive again with their condition before releasing them into the wild ocean.  Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu se nachází zhruba 30 minut hydroplánem severně od Male, a to konkrétně v atolu Baa. Samotný ostrov je poměrně velký a obejít ho trvá cca 20 minut. Celkově se na něm nachází 98 vil - a to jak na souši, tak na vodě. Vybrat si můžete z 2 restaurací a 2 barů. Kromě nich se v Dhuni Kolhu nachází také spa, centrum pro vodní aktivity, tenisový kurt, posilovna a také záhranářská stanice, která se stará o zraněné mořské želvy. Jedná se o neziskovou společnost "Olivia Ridley Project" z Anglie, která nemocné a zraněné mořské želvy sváží z celých Malediv, kde se o ně v místní stanici stará. Většina"pacientů" se chytla do rybářských sítí nebo je zranila turbína od lodí. Většina má tak amputovanou ploutev - buď v tomto stavu do stanice dorazily a nebo končetina musela být amputována na místě. Celý tým se snaží želvy zaučit jak s tímto hendikepem žít a hlavně jak se potápět. Po několika měsísích či letech, až budou v takovém stavu, že v moři přežijí, je tým vypustí. THE ROOMS

As already mentioned, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu has rooms both on the land- and the waterside. We stayed on the island for a week and our room category was the "Deluxe Beach Villa" The room size was about 87 square meters. In the room there was a spacious bed with a working area, a wardrobe and also a make-up table. In the back of the room you could find the in-doors sinks and a mirror - outdoors there was a shower, the restroom and the bathtub. Right in front of the house there were two sun beds with a table and a small pool. On the beach there were two additional laying chairs together with an umbrella. 

My jsme v Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu strávili týden a ubytovaná jsme byli v kategorii "Deluxe Beach Villa", která měla cca. 87 metrů čtverečních. Hned po příchodu do vily jste se ocitli v prostorné ložnici, kde kromě postele byl i pracovní stůl, minibar, skříň a také make-upový stolek. V zadní části pokoje se pak, vevnitř, nacházela 2 umyvadla se zrcadlem, a venku pak zbytek koupelny - sprcha, vana a toaleta. Hned před pokojem jsme měli 2 lehátka se stolečkem a také menší bazén. Z vily jsme měli přímý výhled na pláž, kde jsme měli další 2 lehátka a také slunečník.

RESTAURANTS & BAR

If you're planning on booking a stay, you can choose from several packages the hotel is offering: from a simple stay with a breakfast, over half board and full board, to an all inclusive package - which we had -. During you stay on the island you can choose from dining in the Cowrie restaurant which is an all day dining facility with meals served in a buffet style. If you wish to go for á la carte make sure to make a booking at the Cornus restaurant which is specializing into Thai cuisine. Unfortunately we didn't have the oppurtunity to try this one. You can also go to the Bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or two or a dish from their special  menu. Additionally, there is also a beach bar which is perfect for watching the sunset!

Co se jídla týče, můžete si vybrat z několika balíčků - pobytu jen se snídaní, polopenze, plné penze a také all inclusive, který jsme zvolili my. Na ostrově pak můžete zajít do restaurace Cowrie, kde se najíte po celý den a to v bufetovém stylu. Pokud chcete zajít do a la carte restaurace, určitě si udělejte rezervaci v thajské restauraci Cornus. I v hlavním baru najdete na menu pár jídel - a samozřejmě také spoustu alkoholických i nealkoholických nápojů. V Coco Palm najdete i plážový bar, ze kterého je krásný výhled na západ slunce.

OVERALL REVIEW

I can recommend the hotel to everybody who is looking for a budget-friendly option in the Maldives and enjoys being surrounded by beautiful nature and marine life. 

Pobyt na ostrově bych doporučila všem, kdo se dívají po cenově přívětivějších nabídkách na Maledivách a také všem, kdo mají rádi přírodu a mořský život!
