OUR EXPERIENCE ON BOARD WITH TURKISH AIRLINES

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Today I would like to give you a little insight into our journey with Turkish Airlines from Prague to Male (and back). We had the chance to try their world famous Business Class and in this post I would like to tell you a little bit more about our connections, insights and in general review our experience a little bit.

Krásné odpoledne všem! V dnešním článku bych Vám ráda přiblížila naší zkušenost s business class s Turkish Airlines, se kterými jsme měli tu čest letět z Prahy na Maledivy (a zpět). Pokud tedy o této letecké společnosti uvažujete, určitě pokračujte ve čtení!

BEFORE THE FLIGHT

Before going to the airport, you can check-in online and of course, choose your seats, meals (if preferred) and add any additional add-ons. At the airport you can use dedicated check-in counter for the Business Class which is way faster and the check-in for the economy class. Here you will also receive an invitation to the Business Class lounge which at the Prague Václav Havel airport is called the "Mastercard Lounge" and is located in the Terminal 1 which is the international terminal from which Turkish Airlines operates its flights. In the lounge you can relax, enjoy a snack or a glass of wine before proceeding to your flight and boarding the aircraft. 

Ještě před tím než se dostavíte na samotné letiště, můžete si samozřejmě ve Vaší rezervaci vybrat sedadla, změnit jídlo (pokud máte např. nějaká omezení nebo dietu) a také si přidat další služby v rámci Vaší cesty. Na samotném letišti máte pak speciální check-in pro třídu business, která Vám ušetří čekání. Zde také v Praze dostanete pozvánku do letištního salonku, což v případě Turkish Airlines je MasterCard Lounge na Terminálu 1, kde můžete pohodlně strávit Váš čas před odletem a nebo dát si něco menšího k jídlo či pití před tím než se vydáte směrem k letadlu.

 

OUR CONNECTIONS BETWEEN PRAGUE AND MALE

Our flight was scheduled at 3.30pm departing from Prague and we reached Istanbul around 7.45pm. The connection to Prague felt really short and we enjoyed the service provided by Turkish Airlines. The aircraft on the way to Istanbul was a little smaller, therefore in our business class we had 3 seats with an empty middle seat. On the way back to Prague our seats were bigger, just 2 of them on each side which was very comfortable for this short flight. On the board you can also chose from many non- and alcoholic drinks and you also get a full meal. Our transfers from Istanbul and to Male and back had a very nice, modern plane. One of the things which I truly appreciated was the amount of leg space: in my opinion, the seat space was one of the biggest ones I ever experienced and the Business Class in general felt very luxurious and spacious. In our seat area we had a spacious seat which you could fully fold down and make yourself a bed. In order to make the experience even nicer, the staff put a thin mattress on each "bed" to make your experience even nicer. Of course, you also had your own TV with many entertainment options: movies, series, documentaries, kid channels, games and much much more. When it comes to food, it was an experience as well. Before take-off you could enjoy your dinner. Since our flights were departing late (00.40am from Istanbul to Male and 11.35pm from Male to Istanbul) therefore I personally didn't eat dinner as it was quite late for me but the menu looked really nice and was a combination of Turkish and International cuisine: for example for main course you could choose between traditional kebab or a fish meal which I think is very nice. Before landing we also got breakfast: scrambled eggs or an omelet. I personally appreciated the fact that there was lactose-free milk on board. This was the very first time I could enjoy my coffee the way I enjoy at home in a plane! Generally speaking, I think the Business Class was worth its price and if you wanna already start your experience when boarding the plane and arrive to your destination relaxed, I highly recommend you to book it. 

Náš let z Prahy odlétal v 15.30 a do Istanbulu jsme doletěli zhruba v 19.45. Naše cesta do Istanbulu uběhla opravdu rychle. Na cestě z Prahy do Istanbulu jsme měli menší letadlo, tudíž naše Business Class byla klasická 3-sedačka s volným místem uprostřed. Na cestě zpět jsme pak letěli větším letadlem, takže v Business třídě byly jen větší a pohodlnější 2-sedačky, které se daly i trochu sklopit. Na palubě byl pak velký výběr nápojů: a to jak nealkoholických, tak i těch alkoholických. Součástí servisu bylo i teplé jídlo s předkrmem a dezertem. Let z Istanbulu do Male, i zpět, byl provozovaný velkým, moderním letounem. Co se místa týče, byla to podle mě jedna z nejlepších businessových tříd, jelikož sedadla byla opravdu prostorná, a působila opravdu luxusně. Sedačka se dala zcela sklopit a stala se z ní tak plná postel, na kterou Vám pak tým připravit tenkou "matraci", aby jste se mohli vyspat "do růžova". Samozřejmě mělo sedadlo spoustu úložného prostoru a jeho součástí byl také uvítací kit s kartáčkem na zuby, spací maskou, hřebenem, zubní pastou, špuntami do uší, měkkými ponožkami a dalšími vymoženostmi, které byste během letu mohli potřebovat. Na televizi jste si mohli hned z několik desítek filmů, seriálů, dokumentů, hudebních i zpravodajských kanálů, her a také zábavy pro děti. Náš let z Istanbulu do Male odlétal 40 minut po půlnoci, takže já jsem večeři vynechala - vypadala ale opravdu luxusně a na talíři nechybělo mezze, krevety a také skvělý dezert. Já osobně jsem ocenila fakt, že do každého menu Turkish Airlines zapojují i turecká jídla a tak i trochu své kultury. Před přistáním jsme ještě dostali snídani, ke které byla míchaná vajíčka. Já osobně jsem byla opravdu mile překvapená, že na palubě bylo i mléko bez laktozy: to jsem zažila poprvé a poprvé jsem si tak mohla vychutnat i svojí klasickou ranní kávu! Obecně bych business class od Turkish Airlines mohla jen doporučit: a to především pokud chcete mít pocit, že jste na dovolené už od boardingu letadla!

TRANSFERS AT THE ISTANBUL AIRPORT

During our time at the Istanbul International Airport we, mostly, spent our time in the Business Class Lounge which was an experience itself. The Lounge is located on a whole floor and you can enjoy many amenities: choose many options from different food stations (inclusive of traditional Turkish dishes), pour yourself a glass of wine from the bar, enjoy a cup of coffee at the coffee station, relax in one of the many, many areas, play golf (with a screen in the background), use the lockers or listen to a self-playing piano. The lounge itself was one of the best ones I have ever been to and it was a great part of our journey. Of course, there are also many, many international brands at the airport, so in case you wanna spoil yourself, you can go on a shopping spree. You will find stores like Louis Vuitton, Céline, Omega, YSL, Dior and many many more. Additionally, Turkish Airlines provides a free accommodation for passengers in the Economy Class with a connection time longer than 12 hours+ (1 night in a 4* hotel chosen by the airline) and for passengers in the Business Class with a connection time longer than 9 hours+ (2 nights in a 5* hotel chosen by the airline) free of charge if there is no shorter connection possible for that specific route. If you would like to benefit from this service, you can simply choose a connection with a stopover which is 20 hours or longer. Additionally, if you have a layover between 6 and 24 hours, you can book yourself the "TourIstanbul" service which a complimentary city guide provided by Turkish Airlines: you can choose between different tours at different times.: for example a sightseeing guide or a food guide!

Během našeho transferu na letišti jsme většinu času strávili v letištním salonku Turkish Airlines, který byl jeden z nejlepších, co jsem kdy zažila a byl to rozhodně skvělý zážitek. Salonek je totiž rozložený na celém patře a nechybí v něm spousta relaxačních zón i jídelních částí, několik stanic s jídlem, spousta barů, samoobslužná lednice, úschovné boxy, toalety se základními potřebami, sprchy a také samo-hrající klavír. Samotné letiště je pak velice moderní a pokud si chcete udělat radost, najdete v něm i spoustu luxusních obchodů, včetně Dioru, Cartiera, Bulgari, Hermes nebo Céline či Louise Vuittona. Zároveň aerolinka také nabízí zdarma ubytování pasažérům Economy Class (1 noc ve vybraném 4* hotelu) pokud je doba transferu vyšší jak 12 hodin, a pasažérům cestujícím v Business Class (2 noci ve vybraném 5* hotelu), pokud je doba transferu vyšší jak 9 hodin s podmínkou, že kratší doba přestupu není k dispozici. Pokud si tento servis chcete dopřát, stačí si jednoduše zabookovat cestu s předstupem delším jak 20 hodin. Pokud je Váš layover mezi 6 a 24 hodinami, můžete také využít služby "Tour Istanbul", což je bezplatná prohlídka města Istanbulu operovaná přímo Turkish Airlines: vybrat si můžete z různých možností - například prohlídku památek nebo poznání místní kuchyně!

As you can see from the post, we truly enjoyed our time on board with Turkish Airlines and we had a feeling our holiday started the moment we checked-in our luggage at the airport in Prague.

Jak jsem již ve článku zmiňovala, náš zážitek s Turkish Airlines byl naprosto bezchybný a podle mě se cesta Business Class opravdu vyplatí. Za mě je to rozhodně 10 z 10!
